Distress Signal

As seen in The Sunday Times, Stuff Magazine & The Guardian

The ultimate adventurer's accessory and the complete traveller's companion. This app is a life saver so don't be without it.

Whether travelling the world, mountain climbing or just hanging out at home, it's the app that everyone should have on their phone.

The only app that sends your info and exact location, straight to the local emergency services. The app sends your details, your location, who you need and what is wrong, all to the emergency services in the language of the country you are in!

-Send your personal details and location straight to the emergency services, in the language of the country you are in.

-Automatically knows the emergency numbers to call for every country in the world.

-Send your location to your friends and they can navigate to you with the app. Additionally you can navigate to other Distress Signal users on the map too.

-Torch with S.O.S.

-Alpine Distress Signal

-Emergency contact info updated on the lock screen after use, so first responders and see your information

-Find nearest hospitals and police around you and navigate to them

-A handy compass

-Send pre-set message with your location to your short-list of contacts

-An alert siren

-SMS emergency feature currently works in the UK, Ireland, China, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Philippines, France, Latvia, Luxembourg, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Italy, Austria and Iceland.

-The USA and others will be updating their systems to work with the app this year! This process is all done automatically so you don't have to do anything to stay up to date.

For anywhere else in the world we still offer the number to call in an emergency.

I tried making a call to the police or ambulance but it keeps repeatedly making the app just close. I also tried sending my location but the link given with the text was just a useless web page with no helpful information

Good idea for an app but given the purpose this needs to be perfect on the first release otherwise you are putting people at risk. Tested on Samsung Galaxy S II running ICS 4.04 in the UK. Issues: 1. GPS does not automatically turn on at any point 2. If no GPS signal then app does not work - nearest hospital does not work. If I google maps search for hospital in the same situation I will get something. - send location hangs. - alert emergency service does nothing You should have a fall-back so that if GPS signal is bad or GPS is turned off you can still call emergency services. 3. Needs a "testing mode" or more detailed instructions so the user can familiarize himself with the app without worrying about accidentally contacting the emergency services 4. In the Settings where you store information on allergies / blood type should allow further information e.g. description that could contain other details (e.g. patient number, date of birth, condition: diabetic / pregnant / etc.) 5. I cannot find the area to configure an additional email / phone number that will be contacted if you are in distress.

Very buggy, cannot be relied upon in an emergency.

FINALLY AN APP THAT SENDS YOUR LOCATION TO THE EMERGENCY SERVICES, NOT JUST FRIENDS!!! It sends pretty accurate location data to the emergency services! Obviously depends on how good your phone gps is. If no gps, then gives you the emergency number of the country you are in to call (for each service if different). Translates all the text seemingly well for each native country. Cant wait for USA and rest of europe to be ready! Additional personal info can be stored in the other field it seems under allergies if needed. Relies on google maps for nearest hospitals and police

Looks good, will obviously only use in an emergency, scared to press any buttons incase it actually calls the emergency services without a prompt. PLEASE can you add a TEST MODE in the options so we can see how it runs without actually calling anyone. Also the app gets stuck on finding location, back-out key needs to be active all the time else the app locks up & has to be force closed out :(

I downloaded this before I went travelling with my girlfriend. It provides piece of mind while in a country where you don't speak the language. I had been worried about emergency services in other countries but thankfully this takes the worry away. Great app and have already suggested it to other people.
